Aggregation, syndication and the social engine
How do you see services such as those provided at the GoToWeb20.net
site as changing the way that YOU and your future workgroups operate?
Accessing GoToWeb20.net - I found an interesting experience. I was really unsure of the purpose of the site as there is not much explanation about it.
This is the page that I was taken to when I used the link.
From this page - clicking on a link such as Mindmap, took me to a page that listed mindmapping websites, sites that offered mindmapping tools - either for free or cmmercially available.
Searching did much the same thing - I searched for an interest of mine - scrapbooking - and was presented with a page of sites about scrapbooking.
Really unimpressed by what I had found, as I didn’t see this search facility as much different to what is offered to me already in the likes of Google or Yahoo, I decided to search further. I entered a question into Google - what is Gotoweb20? At the top of my results was a link to www.go2web20.net - now I had found something to get excited about and I have clicked the RSS button on this site to have updates sent directly to my outlook account. Why? It is an amazing aggregation of new and interesting Web 2.0 tools. Probably enough to keep me distracted for a long time. I could certainly see how I could put this site to work for me. In fact I have discovered a tool called scriblink at http://www.scriblink.com which I feel would be an excellent tool for us to use for collaboration within our pod - it has a whiteboard which can be shared in real-time and from which the contents can be saved for further interaction or emailed to others for use. The contents of the whiteboard remain there until the users decide to get rid of it. It also provides a chat window for discussion to occur whilst working.
